Washington Road Trip - Part 2

I ended the last blog post (read it here) with the Bryson's and I staying in a hotel at the Grand Canyon. We woke up with a bounce in our step, ready to tackle the Grand Canyon and go on a little bit of an adventure. We piled into the car and drove the few miles to the Grand Canyon where we proceeded to unload and triple check that we had brought everything we needed. After pushing through the throngs of people, we arrived at the edge of the Grand Canyon and stood in awe at just how amazing it is.

This was the view from the first place we stopped at. We had breakfast while we were here and my bamboo utensils that I keep in my backpack at all times came in quite handy for spreading cream cheese.

Thankful for Scott taking pictures of me at the national parks we visited so it would look like I was there too. :)

Pictures really can't do it justice. It's truly incredible how far it goes on and how many layers of rock make up the Grand Canyon. I'm pretty sure the only response to have to seeing this much grandeur is to praise the Lord for His creativity, provision, and glory.

All the girls had matching REI outfits which were adorable and, as a bonus, made them really easy to find. Score.

This squirrel was begging for breakfast from us. I kept telling the kids he would bite them (not knowing exactly if that was true, but figuring that it was) and then we witnessed him bite an adult who tried to feed him. I felt justified in my response at that moment.

Joshua fell asleep about halfway through our visit at the Grand Canyon and it was super adorable. I don't think I'll ever get over how cute babies are when they fall asleep in a sling or carrier.

I tried to document the happy moments in the car, whether on my phone or with my big camera, so I could remember that they had happened.

This is a more accurate reflection of what Joshua looked like for a lot of the road trip. The happy baby left the building and this one joined us. I was his buddy for the entire road trip and there were many times while I simultaneously felt helpless and wanted him to just be quiet for 5 seconds. Love and irritation all in the same minute.

We had a late lunch at Lake Powell just outside of Page, AZ. The lake was ridiculously blue (it is true to color in these pictures) and was a fun surprise to find on our road trip.

There will be a lot of pictures of my feet, whether in Chacos or Nikes, in these blog posts. My lens doesn't allow me to take selfies with it so I take pictures of my feet instead. You do what you gotta do.

Hannah at Lake Powell.

The beloved minivan at Lake Powell. Everyone at the park left as we pulled up so we had it all to ourselves.

One of Joshua's few moments of not being in a carseat.

Here ends the second blog post from this summer's trip. The next blog post will include the other national parks we visited (there were too many pictures for one blog post).
